The train from Ninh Binh to Hue is the best transport option on this route. Local sleeper buses, while available, tend to be quite old and bumpy and uncomfortable for long journeys, not suitable for a restful night’s sleep. Additionally, since there are no direct flights from Ninh Binh to Hue, travelers still have to travel 130 kilometers (approximately 3 hours) to reach Noi Bai Airport to catch a flight to Hue.

Note before booking train tickets
- Although the train routes are exciting, if you are looking for a luxury/European-standard quality train then should lower your expectations before considering the train operated by Vietnam Railways. The system & facility – somewhat – are old with the almost hundred-years-old train tracks and some parts are not well maintained.
- For more privacy, you should book whole cabin tickets.
- Passengers should book train ticket from Hue to Hanoi at least 2 days before the departure date to ensure ticket are available.

Luggage allowance
Carry-on Bags: The train cabins are allowed to carry baggage not to exceed the weight limitation of 20 kgs of adults and 10 kgs of children. This baggage should be wrapped neatly and reliably.
Cancellation policies
- More than 15 days before arrival: A refund is possible but with 10% of the total price charged as a handling fee
- 15 days to 5 days before departure date: 50% of total price will be refunded;
- Within 5 days before departure date: No refund;
- Passenger not showing up: No refund
